How often does it happen that a place takes name from a company that occupies it? In #Warsaw, a whole city district of Ursus was named after a company that used to have a gigantic mechanical factory here, manufacturing tractors and other vehicles for about a hundred years. It had a few different names before that.
And yes, name comes from Latin "ursus", meaning bear.

Why do so many English words that start with "u" get pronounced like there's a "y" in front of it? We don't really do that with words that start with other vowels.
And if you're going to do that, why not actually add the "y" at the beginning altogether?
