I know, I'm repeating an (favorite) author, but it's May and Elizabeth and Her German Garden by Elizabeth Von Arnim starts at May, 7th. It was published in 1898 and it's a semi-autobiographical novel written in diary form. You can download the book here.

How often I turn round
To face the beast that bound by bound
Leaps on me from behind,
Only to see a bough that heaves
With sudden gust of wind
Or blackbird raking withered leaves…

"If you find it difficult to think of a #river as alive, try picturing a dying or dead river. This is easier ... Can a forest think? Does a mountain remember? Is a river alive?"
One of my favourite nature writers is Robert Macfarlane. And since I can follow him again on another place, I get his new texts. Here's a great #essay from his coming #book 'Is A River Alive': theguardian.com/books/2025/apr

“At a time of global ecological crisis, when the greed and short-sightedness of humans threatens an increasingly fragile environment, her intuitive understanding of the landscape and the rhythms of nature is both a clarion call and a balm for the soul.”

"Guckstu!" Bro-Builder, Sis-Selfies, Nature Writing
