It’s exciting that the #virginia #governor #election will feature 2 choices: a black woman republican or a white woman democrat. I expect republican heads to explode. What I’m hoping is that racism will cause the republicans to not even show up, and so we will get our first woman governor and she will be awesome.

I promised my American wife Canada was safe for queer couples. I'll vote to keep it that way
Kiva-Marie Belt and their wife have made their home in Canada, but have seen anti-transgender sentiment on the rise in the U.S. spilling over to this country. That’s why acceptance and inclusion of transgender people will be guiding their vote in the fede...

So... Canada... We need to talk...

As someone who works for Meta, I have a good insight on what is really popular and what is not. I am seeing the same things I saw here, before Donald Trump won.

Vote. You do not want to make our same mistake. I know, many of you dislike your choices, period. It seems to be a trend, world-wide, where the people who actually want power, are not necessarily the type of people, the masses want. I do not have a solution for that, because it seems anywhere someone good comes along, few people know about it because they are oppressed by the media.

Going to the polls when you do not like anyone, will be painful, it will be annoying, and frustrating, and I know you may not be motivated, but trust me, you do not want a Donald Trump clone.

What will it take to defend Canada? Experts say party platforms miss the target
There is an "anything you can do, I can do better" vibe to the defence policies of both the Liberals and the Conservatives, but a trio of national security and military experts say each of the parties are missing — or avoiding — the fundamental national security issue at...

Continued thread

#VotingRights experts have described the issues raised by Judge Griffin as moot because even if the voters’ registration forms were missing driver’s license numbers, state law still requires them to show ID when they vote.

Questions about those *omissions* had spread in conservative circles for more than a year, & were teed up for use by #Republican political strategists well before Judge Griffin’s loss in November.

Continued thread

In his protest, Judge Griffin sought to dismiss the ballots of ~65k people & argued that a majority of them were ineligible to vote because they did not supply certain required personal data — such as a driver’s license number — when they registered. But the omissions, he admitted, were because of administrative errors, not voter errors.
