If you feel like it some day I love to know how you came across #DanReeder. His fans turn up all over the place. I found out about him via #JohnPrine and OhBoy! records. I learned about John when he was still the singing Mailman from Maywood and we were all hoping he'd make it big.

This goes for both sides.
"But, your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more
They're already overcrowded
From your dirty little war
Now, Jesus don't like killin'
No matter what the reason's for
And your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more"
I think it would be cool if everyone weighed in with their favorite environmental protest songs.
Thanks for the #JohnPrine suggestion @nerb

I hope this song from 1971 brings as much joy to you as it did to me this morning. #JohnPrine #WishingYouJoy #HeresToHappiness
Hey, if you are in the vicinity of Delaware or Southeast PA this weekend, we're putting on a musical celebration of John Prine at the Arden Gild Hall Friday night 11/24. The program features a bunch of local acts, all playing John Prine songs. Hope to see you there!

John Prine - John Prine
An album I've been avoiding for a long time, no doubt due to the shallow biases of a callow youth: the last thing I wanted to listen to was the strumming of a Chicago-based folk artist singing Appalachian/Nashville flavored songs.
Yeah, well, in time one matures somewhat.
Analog Productions pressing of the Atlantic 75th anniversary series: another gem.

Side note: Possibly in contrast to Joy Alonzo in Texas, Iowa’s Chris Jones was purposefully poking at the powers that be. I think he hurt someone’s feelings…
Here’s a sample of his work (complete with a nod to John Prine): #JohnPrine #iowa @DeSoto55

I did a little video editing of our cover of #JohnPrine’s #BruisedOrange. I had a few takes I liked better.
Killer lineup. #BarryGray is a winner of the NC Songwriter Fellowship Award, #JonShain was the winner of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and EScottWarren is a grad of the prestigious N Texas State jazz program, with an eye-popping resume.
John Prine was a brilliant song-writer and Bonnie Raitt is, well...beyond words.
This is one of my top 5 favorite songs. I was just listening and thought I'd share. Happy Saturday!
"If dreams were thunder
And lightning was desire
This old house would've burnt down
A long time ago."
Gonna highlight my most recent release for this #BandcampFriday - much of which was recorded during the first COVID lockdown.
The title track to “Rising in the Blue” is dedicated to the late #JohnPrine, and was written the night we learned of his death.
“Murnane combines timeless pop-rock songwriting with smart arrangements, articulate playing, and a strong, well-seasoned voice.”
Because I love #JohnPrine sooo much, I'm just gonna go ahead and follow the last song with the first of his songs I ever heard, at least performed by him. And, as is usual, he's got a story. Half of his appeal is the stories he tells.

Also a great story for the ages, is how Roger Ebert probably launched John's career: https://www.rogerebert.com/features/john-prine-american-legend
John Prine - I Remember Everything
The last song recorded by John Prine. It makes me cry, in the best way. #music #JohnPrine
