Happy mother's day to all moms and dad's and everybody who wants a good hug

As my wife can't hike currently, I just did a quick hike (800m, 4h) to a local #mountain. Very lonely on the upward part, very busy at the summit and during the down part.

But it's been a nice loop. And I've cleaned backpack and shoes already! They needed a good wash after winter anyways. Now everything needs to dry.

(There's something about white rocks on sunny days which just makes the colors of the surrounding landscape really pop...)

Relatively close-up view of a beautiful mountain peak (Sonnenspitze) from a nearby mountain pass. A small path leading through dwarf mountain pines toward talus fields near the base of peak's upper rocky section. The rocks are a very light gray, almost off-white and illuminated by the bright sunlight against an almost clear blue sky. A view of Comb Ridge (the undulating feature that kinda looks like a really dull comb) and Sleeping Ute Mountain in the far distance, about 60 miles away. The Ute's head is the large bump to the left. Oh, and this is the view from my campsite this evening. :)

Die heutige Wanderung führte mich in ein Murmeltier-Gebiet. Seit ein paar Wochen sind diese aus dem Winterschlaf erwacht und kümmern sich um die Nahrungssuche, die Höhlen und wohl bald auch um den Nachwuchs.

Today's hike took me to a marmot area. They have been awake from hibernation for a few weeks now and are looking for food, burrows and will soon be looking after their offspring.

Anyways! This isn't a new one. But one to which I have REALLY some memories: Doing a #sunrise tour with two colleagues and getting a *totally* unexpected result. At the summit it was a bit rainy and I had given up getting a good #photo - but hey ...

These coots seemed completely oblivious to the amazing scenery around them. Alpenglow, the orange-coloured first light of the day, falls on the towering mountains in the background, with the Cristallo massif on the left, with four peaks of over 3000 metres, of which Monte Cristallo is the highest, with a height of 3221 metres.
