It's spring time and thus flowers time. Things are brightening up around me so time to start sharing flower pictures.

Today's offerings are some Kwanzan cherry blossoms, some tulip magnolias, and some Japanese flowering plums. These are all popular trees in grounds around Wuhan, and the business park I'm in uses them extensively, along with others. (They're actually very careful to ensure that there are blooming trees most times outside of winter.)

Here are some plum blossoms in various colors in the castle ruins park near our house, which is between Osaka and Kyoto, quick to reach both.

The other day on the train from Kyoto, I had a funny experience with young American tourists. One said "your bag is open." Then I smiled and said "just like it has been for 40 years ... Welcome to Japan." Big smiles all around.

After the carnage...a harvest & jam.

Overnight, some critters - possibly foxes based on scat & the night camera footage - ate about half the Shiro plums from our tree.

I harvested what was left & tonight made a small batch of golden plum jam.

It tastes like sunshine.

My poor plum tree was ravaged last night. A branch is down and there are half eaten plums all around the base of the tree.

#3goodthings Plumagedon edition. #Plum tree is loaded with plums. 1) watching birds and squirrels from my bathroom window as they feast on ripe plums every morning. 2) from the smell, a skunk is getting in on the plum feast at the ground level and 3) After canning non-stop for days, I am fairly confident that the ground in plum debris on my kitchen floor will come up without power washing! #gardening
