Why is Glasgow City Council even considering an application to demolish the C-Listed former ABC cinema (top), when there is an unused empty plot which is spewing millions of buddleja seeds across the city just a few hundred metres down the same street (bottom)? This just seems to be completely the wrong focus on how to improve and repopulate the city centre.

1860s commercial buildings on the corner of Howard Street and Maxwell Street in central Glasgow. Built for the printers McCorquodale and Company, earlier this year plans were proposed to demolish much of this block and replace it with a modern, multistorey hotel building.

Rechtsgutachten zeigt auf: Eine allgemeine Genehmigungspflicht für Gebäudeabrisse ist möglich und von den Bundesländern direkt umsetzbar

Die aktuelle Rechtslage begünstigt den klimaschädlichen #Abriss von Gebäuden, anstatt die ressourcenschonende #Sanierung zu bevorzugen. Die Deutsche Umwelthilfe fordert, diesen Missstand mit einer #Genehmigungspflicht für Abrisse zu beenden. Das neue Rechtsgutachten von Geulen & Klinger Rechtsanwälte bestätigt, dass eine solche Pflicht umsetzbar ist und zeigt eine Möglichkeit auf, wie diese in den Musterbauordnungen und den Landesbauordnungen verankert werden kann.

Bundesgeschäftsführerin Barbara Metz sagt: "Es ist angesichts der enormen Belastung von Klima und Ressourcen und dem hohen Bedarf nach bezahlbarem Wohnraum geradezu abstrus, dass die Bauministerien der Länder Gebäudeabrisse nicht an ökologische Kriterien koppeln und freien Lauf lassen."
