#PennedPossibilities 667 — At the moment, what is your MC’s highest priority?

The main series antagonist has just conquered a prefecture in the dragon lands and has left Thorn Rose (who she had accompany her) as the interim military governor. Why? Because? Rainy Days is often inscrutable. Well, she's probably testing her "new favorite student," best as I [the author] can tell, to determine whether Thorn is bloodthirsty or lacks a conscience.

Thorn is a senior in high school, the top student and an egghead, and knows she's not qualified other than taking her role very seriously, but she is told to listen to what the advisors and experts installed below her report and to adjudicate guilt and motive—and "not to kill too many people."

Thorn interprets that as the wrong people. That's her priority, not killing the wrong people. I've yet to determine if this will cause her PTSD.

@Snoro Your assertion in this post is in addition to what's in the article. However, even with industry, global and local, being responsible for 70% of emissions, it's our personal decision and everyone we can can convince to go along—not to use those goods and services (fossil fuel and #chatAI, for example) and instead buy local when available, eat seasonal foods only to save transport, and demand green—that changes those industries and drives change for the better. No climate solution is best, they all contribute, but personal solution is what everyone can do the help collectively and ultimately makes the difference.

Today in Labor History May 6, 1794: Toussaint L'Ouverture launched the Haitian revolution for independence against France. As a result of this revolution, the former slaves declared independence from France in 1804, making Haiti the first free black republic in the world. The U.S. refused to recognize Haiti for the next 70. France extracted millions in restitution, destroying any hope of ever moving out of deep poverty. The slave revolt against the French began in 1791 with the call by Dutty Boukman, a vodou priest. (For a really great history of the Haitian revolution, please see the Black Jacobins, by H. L. R. James)

May the 4th with you!

Here's a good opportunity for a writer such as myself. If you're a fan of #StarWars, my wonderful #WritingCommmunity, then I've got a little something for you. Enjoy!

Governor Tarkin has enough on his plate as it is. Times are rapidly changing, and the Empire is growing stronger as the days pass. A new Intelligence Officer is appointed to the governor's command, though, and one wonders how will the two get along. He has never made it a secret how he feels about Force-users, even if he hides behind pleasantries and the neutrality in his words. There's only one exception to the rule: Lord Vader, but could there ever be another in the future?

#WritersCoffeeClub #WCC 2504.30 — International Jazz Day! Do you participate in ‘writing jams’ with other writers?

I'm seen this at SF conventions. Each time, the panel was called And a Shot Ran Out. Mind you, these were professional writers on the panel AND they were not writing down what they wrote, instead each would tell a snippet of the story and another panelist would volunteer another ad lib snippet, until it petered out.

Here on Mastodon, I witnessed @strangeseawolf and another do this with tweets, and it was fascinating,

Me? I don't think that quickly!

🧠💚 Can AI build a green future — or are we just automating old mistakes?

Millennials & Gen Z inherited a world shaped by extractive systems, greenwashed progress, and false promises. We’re not here to clean it up.
We’re here to build what they never dared to dream: tech with ethics, equity, and actual accountability.
