The bars spin when played – manually or by MIDI – emitting warmly resonating drifts of sound, sympathetic tones that resemble electronic sources, tintinnabulations in an electroacoustic lineage with Harry Bertoia’s architectural sound sculptures. The SPI is not tuned, or cut to scales, so each set is a study in pitch, rhythm and texture via unexpected objects and instruments.'</p><p>The results are extraordinary. Not only is there at times a kind of digeridoo effect but also one of the Leslie speaker, a kind of quick swooshing effect that makes you feel as though the sound is travelling to somewhere at lightning speed, while...</p><p>There's just a lot of experimentation here. It's not too much, definitely not, and the soundscapes aren't 'busy'; there's noise. There's rain effects. There's stuff that would make Einstürzende Neubauten envious.</p><p>Moments of ambient music appear that are slightly reminiscent of Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works II album.
