#Goodmorning from Fisksätra! I had a great time last night at the three-band rock gig. Today I'm going to Västerås for a one-day scifi convention, and to give a talk about some excavations of mine three years ago. What are you up to?

Ständig werden in Betriebssystemen, Anwendungen und Geräten Sicherheitslücken gefunden. Diese ermöglichen es Angreifer*innen für Abstürze zu sorgen oder im schlimmsten Fall die Systeme komplett zu übernehmen und sie für weitere Aktivitäten zu nutzen. Solange die Systeme noch vom Hersteller unterstützt werden, bringen diese Sicherheitspatches heraus, um gemeldete Lücken zu schließen.
Doch wie viele betroffene Systeme hast du? Smartphone, Laptop, Gaming-PC, Smartwatch, Router, Smarte Lampen, E-Bike, Soundsystem, Fernseher usw. Dazu kommt alles, was irgendwie "smart" oder vernetzt ist. Das sind schnell dutzende Systeme und mehr. Bei allen müsstest du täglich beim Hersteller vorbeischauen und prüfen, ob es Updates gibt.
Zum Glück gibt es bei vielen Systemen die Option auf automatische Updates. Dabei werden alle Sicherheitsupdates, die der Hersteller bereit stellt, automatisch installiert. So werden Sicherheitslücken geschlossen, sobald die Patches bereit stehen.
Leider bieten nicht alle Hersteller Updates an. Das macht die Geräte unnötig riskant oder sogar zu Elektroschrott, obwohl sie noch funktionieren. Bisherige politische Bestrebungen, Hersteller zu einer Updategarantie zu verpflichten, sind bisher leider noch nicht weit gekommen.
Nimm den heutigen Tag als Anlass und aktiviere auf deinen Systemen automatische Updates.

Good morning Fellow Travellers on Spaceship Earth I'm back up with the parrots today and have just put Ziggy in for her breakfast after a frustrating session where she's refusing to take her meds again. This may be down to the baby food mix, which I changed to a different flavour as she was putting her beak up at the old one, or it might just be that she's fed up with baby food. I'll try her on the mash mix again tomorrow morning and see how that goes. She's mad for cherries at the moment so I might try a cherry mash. Grant fell asleep on the couch last night (he'd walked about 10 miles) so didn't get to tell Ziggy about her "cousins" after his birding session, so he's saving that for later. He says he has a long list for her.

Going to try and make some website updates today and if there is time I plan to do some gaming as I haven't played much lately.

Good morning everyone Late one for me today as Grant got up for the parrots and then went birding as the sun was rising. He'll be away for hours now, just walking and looking for birds, which is a lovely way to spend a morning. And of course he will do the "I saw a..." routine with Ziggy later I have just poured myself a coffee and have gone through the usual round of excited greetings from the Crew. It's always wonderful to be met with such an enthusiastic cacophony as they try to outdo themselves for my attention. Definitely clears the cobwebs from a sleepy head too

So, coffee and a bit of scrolling with pocket friends and then crochet. I still have a little bit to do on the custom order, but I should finish that this morning and can then work on the competition toy. And I really need to update my website at some point this weekend!

Viele Geräte werden mit einem Default Passwort ausgeliefert. Diese sind oft sehr kurz und sollen eigentlich nur genutzt werden, bis du ein eigenes eingerichtet hast. Doch bei vielen Installationsassistenten wird das Ändern des Passwortes nicht erzwungen und so bleiben die Passwörter aktiv und werden vergessen.
Das ist häufig ein Sicherheitsproblem. Denn die Defaultpasswörter stehen bei den Herstellern in den Anleitungen und werden in Datenbanken gesammelt. Hat ein*e Angreifer*in Zugang zum Gerät oder Anwendung kann sie sie diese einfach ausprobieren und bekommt vollen Zugriff. Gerade bei Routern, über die der ganze Netzwerkverkehr läuft, kann der Verkehr umgeleitet oder manipuliert werden, um z.B. Trojaner zu verteilen oder den Router in ein Botnetz zu integrieren. Er greift dann z.B. andere Router an oder nimmt an Distributed Denial of Service Angriffen teil.
Auch aufgedruckte scheinbar zufällige Passwörter können unsicher sein. Wenn diese z.B. von der Seriennummer abgeleitet werden oder vom Produktionsdatum, könnte ein*e Angreifer*in die möglichen Passwörter mit Glück bereits so weit einschränken, dass sie dieses erraten kann.
Du solltest daher die Standardzugangsdaten immer ändern.
Nimm den heutigen Tag als Anlass und setze bei deinem Router ein sicheres Passwort für die Verwaltungsoberfläche.
