ANALYSIS

Let's look at how the projected national voteshare today compares with 2013 (the last time an insurgent party of the far right led by Farage was doing really well).

2013/2025:

⚪ Reform UK: 23%/30%
🔴 Labour: 29%/20%
🟠 Liberal Democrats: 14%/17%
🔵 Conservatives: 25%/15%

* The BBC compare this with a general election but that is a wildly inaccurate comparison to make as local election patterns are always different and have a different turnout.

PROJECTED NATIONAL VOTE SHARE

The BBC have done their usual projected national vote share* off the back of the England local elections.

This projection shows what the results translate into if the whole country had been voting today:

⚪ Reform UK: 30%
🔴 Labour: 20%
🟠 Liberal Democrats: 17%
🔵 Conservatives: 15%
🟢 Green Party: 11%
⚫ Others: 7%

* The BBC compare this with a general election but that is a wildly inaccurate comparison to make as local election patterns are always different and have a different turnout.

@GottaLaff
Without doubt Farage/Reform are a real threat and should be opposed at every opportunity.
They will likely consume the Tory party as MPs jump ship.
But the by- election result could have gone Labour's way if one household of 4 voters had moved back to Labour from Reform.
Four voters !
Don't ever let anyone say their vote doesn't count.

‘Five different judges over two separate hearings have made it clear: these anti-protest laws were a flagrant abuse of power and quite simply should never have existed.

Ministers cannot step outside the law to do whatever they want to shut down causes they don’t agree with.’
