Yesterday’s Paul Smith special edition concentrated on the aesthetics but today’s Mini is all about performance. The 1989 ERA Mini Turbo used a turbocharged MG Metro engine and a host of other mechanical and body mods that made it the fastest Mini ever sold through official dealership channels - although the upgrades were carried out by the former English Racing Automobiles, famous for its 1940s/50s race cars.
