Yesterday on the BBC Radio4 Today programme, Ed Miliband was generally good on the priority of phasing out (fossil) hydrocarbons for electricity production.
However, he included nuclear in the low carbon pallette.
This is suspect on at least 2 counts.
1) The toxic radioactive legacy - still no viable solutions and much UK waste waiting at Sellafield.
2) Peak uranium. There won't be enough - see ourfiniteworld.com/2024/11/11/ esp fig 5.

Our Finite World · Nuclear electricity generation has hidden problemsNuclear electricity generation has an immediate problem of not enough uranium from mines. Advanced modular units can't solve this problem fast enough.

Carbon capture and storage will play absolutely no role in "the energy transition" as there's no evidence it can be scaled up in any meaningful way that even lowers emissions, and isn't creating energy either.

CCS is simply just a scam that's been designed by and for the fossil fuel industry so they can keep burning and profiting - and make you suffer for it.

Labour is a disappointment. They are wasting a historical opportunity. The left should use these 5 years of disappointment to build a populist and alternative, independent of the Labour Party. Fighting for control inside the Labour Party will no longer work, that was a one in a lifetime bullet that Corbyn wasted by allowing internal dissent, which eventually became his downfall.
