Bear with me for this joke...
(It's #HootinTootinTuesday again! Post some jokes or funny memes under this hashtag today, and bring lots of smiles to #Mastodon.)
Mama Grizzly enjoys rolling in a patch of wildflowers on a warm summer day in British Columbia.
I photographed this grizzly a few years ago in Alaska. She had two cubs and a yearling with her. It was my first close encounter with a grizzly.

Starting our hike on Highline Trail, we saw this momma grizzly and two of her babies. This was adorable and also extremely scary all at the same time. This was an omen of things to come.

GOOD NEWS
A federal judge in #Montana has issued a preliminary injunction that limits the state's #WolfTrapping season to January 1 to February 15 next year, specifically in certain #hunting regions and counties. This decision, aimed at protecting threatened #GrizzlyBears from getting caught in wolf traps, was made following arguments from environmental groups and the state. The ruling notes that any capture of a grizzly is a violation of the #EndangeredSpeciesAct.

The AP Stylebook really ought to contain an entry for the appropriate use of the word "euthanasia." It's OK to use the word "killed" when it comes to a #GrizzlyBears killing a cow, but when it's humans killing a grizzly, we're supposed to believe it's an act of mercy?

Here's a #Livestock #Rancher with a good perspective on #GrizzlyBears.
"I don't see the world as a place where humans just get to trump everything else," he said. "I consider it a really fundamental responsibility of being human to serve the ecological integrity of wherever we live."
STOP violent trophy hunters from SLAUGHTERING bear cubs!
In 2016, the Trump administration removed critical #EndangeredSpecies protections for #GrizzlyBears. Since then, it’s still completely LEGAL to kill innocent bears using some of the most horrific hunting methods imaginable.
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service needs to step up and do its job of protecting grizzly bears on a federal level before it’s too late.
Ah, sweet victory! Megan Backsen, an attorney for the Western Watersheds Project called the ruling "a victory not only for endangered #GrizzlyBears but for all wildlife in the Upper Green River Area. The Court recognized that the #ForestService cannot ignore its own experts, particularly when those experts warn that a decision will harm those species that depend on intact #ecosystems for their very survival.”
This is the type of story that necessitates the use of profanity, but we're keeping it professional: Whoever did this is a jerkface.

#ThankYou everyone who weighed in and schooled me on how to use #Mastodon more effectively. (#ThankYou especially to the folks who were nice about my rookie mistake in asking for a bigger audience.) I'll put your ideas into action, and I welcome any other advice.
