#Pakistan said on Thurs it shot down 25 drones from India in its airspace while #India said it "neutralized" Pakistan's attempts to strike military targets w/drones & missiles, as fighting spread between the #nuclear-armed neighbors.

The exchanges come a day after India said it hit "terrorist infrastructure" in Pakistan early Wed—2 wks after it accused the #Islamic nation of involvement in an attack in Indian #Kashmir which killed 26 mostly #Hindu tourists.

In #Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistani #Kashmir, damage from an Indian strike was visible at sunrise. Security forces surrounded a small mosque in a hill-side residential neighbourhood that had been hit, with its minaret collapsed. Later in the day, funerals were held for several of those killed.

#Hindu-majority #India & #Islamic #Pakistan have fought 2 of their 3 wars since independence in 1947 over #Muslim-majority Kashmir, which both sides claim in full & control in part.

I don't have the complete citation, but this #Sanskrit verse from the #Hindu epic #Mahabharata is timelessly relevant to all domains. First the English meaning and then the source text in different scripts.

Meaning:
A little work done with knowledge has great import.
A lot of work done with ignorance has no benefit.

E.g., a small piece of software, like a function, developed with full understanding can be very useful. OTOH, a large piece of software, like an entire service, is of no use if it's developed with no understanding of requirements or engineering principles.

Today, the ninth day of the #Hindu lunar year, is observed as "Raama Nawami" in most parts of India. It is the birthday of Raama, the 7th of Wishnu's 10 incarnations.

Greetings to all who observe.

At least in South India, on this day, people give out free water, lemonade, buttermilk, and such to help beat the heat. Some build shelters/stalls ("prapaa" in Sanskrit, "arawattige" in Kannada) for this purpose. Some also give out "kosambari" which is cucumber salad, sometimes mixed with soaked lentils.

Today, Hindus around the world celebrate Holi, the festival of colors, and nowhere is it more raucous than in India. Kids and grownups filled their water balloons and water guns yesterday, and have packets of colored powder ready to ambush friends, neighbors and strangers. "If you're spotlessly clean, you're a target," write Mithil Aggarwal and Max Butterworth for NBC. Here's their story about the meaning of the festival and how it is celebrated — complete with some absolutely stunning photography.
