"Jessica" is an #instrumental piece by American rock band #theAllmanBrothersBand, released in December 1973 as the second #single from the group's fourth studio album, #BrothersAndSisters (1973). Written by guitarist #DickeyBetts, the song is a tribute to #gypsyJazz guitarist #DjangoReinhardt, in that it was designed to be played using only two fingers on the left hand. Betts wrote the majority of "Jessica" at the band's farm in #Juliette, #Georgia.

Written and sung by the band's guitarist, #DickeyBetts, it was inspired by a 1951 song of the same name by #HankWilliams. It is much more grounded in #countryMusic than other Allman Brothers Band compositions, which made the group reluctant to record it.

For first gen Americans whose parents entered the US during the 1940s, against a tide of #antisemitism, #racialbias remained a factor in #employment, #housing, and other aspects of society, for many decades. Even today, being called a #dirtyjew is not #verboten. #Hatred remains a #threat to #democracy #justice #civilliberties - #brothersandsisters cannot #succumb to the #manipulation of #media and #power that is used to #divide rather than #unite.
